The G-SHOCK MRGB2000JS1A Katana Edition is a striking tribute to Japanese craftsmanship, blending centuries-old artisanal techniques with cutting-edge technology. Inspired by the Juryoku-Maru: San katana, commissioned by Casio and forged by master swordsmith Kamiyama Teruhira, this timepiece embodies the artistry and precision of traditional sword-making.
The 49.8mm titanium case features a bezel showcasing a recrystallized hybrid titanium construction, mirroring the intricate edge patterns of a Japanese blade. Each piece is cut, polished, and hardened to create a unique finish, while the hand-etched 燦 (San) character on the case back ensures no two watches are alike. Blue-grey AIP® coating on the titanium case captures the distinctive hue of the Juryoku-Maru: San sword. All this is done while still maintaining the tough features we come to expect in a G-SHOCK; 200 meters of water resistance with a shock and magnetic resistant contruction.
The watchband, designed by lacquer artist Nomura Mamoru, features aogai-nuri blue shell lacquer inspired by the katana’s scabbard. Constructed from DAT55G titanium alloy, it boasts exceptional scratch resistance and an iridescent finish that echoes the elegance of mother-of-pearl inlays. It also features a lock button on the clasp that ensures the watch stay on your wrist.
Beyond its stunning aesthetics, this MR-G offers advanced functionality with the 5625 module inside. This includes Bluetooth® connectivity, radio-wave timekeeping, world time, timer, stopwatch and alarm.
Marrying tradition with innovation, the G-SHOCK MRGB2000JS1A is more than a watch—it’s a wearable work of art celebrating Japan’s rich heritage and modern ingenuity.
